New competence center in Germany enhances design expertise in imec’s automotive chiplet program
At the Hannover Trade Fair, imec and the state government of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, announced the launch of the Advanced Chip Design Accelerator (ACDA). This competence center will focus on developing cutting-edge chiplet, packaging, system integration and (edge) AI technology as part of imec’s automotive chiplet program.
The establishment of this new center significantly bolsters the research efforts of imec and its partners in creating chiplet architectures tailored to the automotive sector. Baden-Württemberg, renowned as the birthplace of Germany’s automotive industry and one of the world’s most innovative regions, brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
The local government has committed to financially supporting the competence center for at least five years. This initiative will foster collaborations with esteemed partners from academia and industry, including the Fraunhofer Institute and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Additionally, talent development is a key objective, with plans to train engineers in collaboration with the local ecosystem, including universities.
